Congratulations to Canada’s Olympic Hockey Team–and their fans–for winning the gold medal on Sunday.
Yes, I wanted USA to win. And they came close. Very close. But in the Olympics, close gets you the silver…
Nonetheless, it was a great game. It was a great tournament. Many close games. Many upsets. Many competitive teams. Borrowing from my Star Trek metaphor, if the 2002 tournament was “Wrath of Khan,” then this was “First Contact” all the way.

What an amazing tournament. Thanks to the wonder of DVR I think I watched nearly every single minute of the tournament. I hope this draws some more attention to the great sport of hockey. Congratulations Canada!

Speaking of Star Trek, watching the closing ceremonies–William Shatner doing the I sm Canadian bit Game could have gone either way but I'm glad WE won–btw, is it me or did Marty sem a little ticked

With all due respect though, these Olympics where never a Star Trek First Contact. And here's 40 minutes of video review of why not.
More like Star Trek IV. Way way more awesome than First Contact, plus, we saved the (killer) whales.
@reddai – yes, chronologically this would have been "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" as far as Olympics go.
However, when you analyze the mathematical equation…

…then the similarities to "First Contact" become more evident.
@Al – I don't pay any attention to New Jersey's "fat" (and overrated) goalie anymore. But he didn't look as happy as the other Canada players out there…
Also @ reddai – instead of watching a 40-minute review of "First Contact," why not just spend the extra 50 minutes and watch the whole thing…?

It's a treatise dissecting the plot of First Contact.
Basically, First contact "looked" good, but it didn't feel like the movie it could have been. Star Trek IV both had elements of looking good, but also was a solid plot all the way through, kind of like these Olympics.
Plus, Kirk was in both the Olympics (closing ceremony) and Stark Trek IV:
