Deja Vu Tuesday: Antti Niemi

niemi_opcAntti Niemi had a rookie card in pretty much every Upper Deck set produced during the 2009-10 season. Usually when that happens, a photo gets recycled here or there. In this case, someone must have thought this picture was so nice that they used it twice.

First, Upper Deck put this picture on the Retro Parallel version of Niemi’s 2009-10 O-Pee-Chee Marquee Rookie card.

niemi_opcI guess this gave collectors incentive to try and get both regular and retro versions, since they used different pictures.

Upper Deck then used this picture on Niemi’s 2009-10 Black Diamond card and its various parallel versions.

Although not the same photo, Upper Deck used an almost-identical picture on Niemi’s 2009-10 Upper Deck Young Guns card.

niemi_udAt first glance, you might think that this is the same photograph, too, until you notice the puck right in front of Niemi’s left leg pad.

These two pictures may have been taken a split-second apart, as Niemi’s pose is nearly identical. Besides the puck, you’ll notice other minor differences if you care to look hard enough.
