…with your hosts, Sal Barry & Tim Parish!

Player not working? Listen to the podcast on Soundcloud.

This is the first in what will hopefully become a regular podcast series on this website, hosted by Sal Barry and Tim Parish. For those who don’t know, Tim maintains a sports card blog called The Real DFG and hangs out on Twitter @TheRealDFG.

Today, Sal and Tim talk about:

  • The Chicago Blackhawks sweep of the Minnesota Wild
  • The new 2014-15 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Hockey set
  • The 1989-90 Topps and O-Pee-Chee Hockey sets
  • How Pittsburgh was a big hockey town in the 1980s — and Chicago wasn’t

Total running time is 28:17. Images of some of the cards we talk about are after the jump.

Question #1: If you listened to the podcast, what did you think? Positive or negative feedback is welcome, but please keep it constructive.

Question #2: What is your opinion on any of the topics we discussed?

  1. Nice work, I really enjoyed listening Sal! You’ve got me motivated to go find a blaster of O-Pee-Chee Platinum now!

I love that you touched on the ’89-90 Topps/O-Pee-Chee set as well. This was the first set I ever collected as a kid, my Dad used to bring packs home for my brothers and I after work, and we’d sort all our cards into our cheap three ring binders by team. For that reason it will always have a special place in my mind. I actually have at least one, maybe two, vending CASES of the O-Pee-Chee set that were passed down to me by my Dad. If anyone needs any of these cards, which I seriously doubt, look me up!

  2. I really enjoyed listening the podcast. It’s really awesome to have a sportcard show dedicated to hockey card! I started collecting with the 88-89 OPC set, so I have found memories collecting the classic 89-90 OPC set. For some reasons, I always thought that the design on the side of the card was marble (instead of ice!). Keep up the good work – I’m already a fan of the show!

    1. Hmmm….maybe it was meant to be marble. I just assumed it was ice when I was a kid, and never thought too hard about it since 🙂 Thanks for listening!

  3. Finally got around to listening. I am a podcast junkie so a podcast about hockey cards doesn’t have to be very good for me to love it. what I am saying is my opinion here is irrelevant as I would love just about anything. my one suggestion is to get on itunes so that people can subscribe and download to their podcast apps. it will definitely increase your visibility.
