2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 – Box Break #2

Can my second box be as good as my first? Let’s find out…

155 Base Cards

Did you know that Sidney Crosby has appeared in more hockey card sets than hockey games this year? It’s true.

6 Young Guns

Frederic St. Denis, Louis Leblanc, David Ullstrom,  Brayden McNabb, David Rundblad and Andy Miele.

1 UD Exclusive

Evgeni Malkin, numbered 42/100.

3 UD Canvas

Simon Gagne, Martin Havlat and this great post-game photo of Jaromir Jagr.

1 UD Canvas Young Guns

Colin Greening of the Ottawa Senators.

3 Hockey Heroes

Bobby Orr and Terry Sawchuk.

2 Jersey Cards

A Game Used jersey card of Antoine Vermette.

An Event Worn jersey card of Aaron Palushaj.

6 Victory Update Cards

What the hell? Five of the 6 Victory Update cards I got were duplicates of who I got in my previous box. I am now the proud owner of doubles of Kris Versteeg, Brayden Schenn, Mike Ricahrds, David Booth and Maxime Talbot. The only “new” one I pulled was Ville Leino. At this rate, putting this set together is going to be hard.

6 Victory Update Rookie Cards

I got numerous duplicate Victory Rookies too. Come on, Upper Deck…shuffle the cards a little bit better, will ya? So now I have two copies of Craig Smith, Tim Erixon, Matt Read and Raphael Diaz. I also got cards of Lennart Petrell (who?) and Brandan Saad.

2 MVP Update Cards

Mike Richards and Ondrej Pavelec.

1 MVP Rookie Card

Matt Read…boy, I hope this Matt Read guy becomes good in a hurry, because I got 3 of his RCs in this box, and 1 in my last box.

1 O-Pee-Chee Update Card

Jaromir Jagr of the Philadelphia Flyers.

2 O-Pee-Chee Update Rookie Cards

Zack Kassian and…drum roll…Matt Read!

1 O-Pee-Chee Retro Parallel

A retro parallel of Zack Kassian. What are the odds of pulling a short-printed RC and the short-short printed parallel version of said RC? Because I did it.

I’m actually enjoying all the different “update sets.” But seriously, what’s with all the duplicate Victory cards. Oh well, it could be worse–like duplicate Young Guns.

Who from around Chicago is going to the card show in Rosemont this weekend? Tim and Nick, I know you guys are going. Justin’s out; who’s gonna take his place?
