2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 – Box Break #3

My third–but probably not final–box of 2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2.

154 base cards

I haven’t sorted these yet, but I think I got a full base set from my 3 boxes. I will probably get the cards I need to complete a second base set to trade away.

6 Young Guns

Brad Malone, Mike Murphy, Viatcheslav Voynov, Stu Bickel (great name!), Marc-Andre Bourdon and Ryan Ellis. Thankfully, none of these are duplicates of the YGs I got in previous boxes.

1 UD Exclusive

Valtteri Filppula, numbered 60 / 100.

4 UD Canvas

Patrick Sharp, Jeff Skinner (again?), T.J. Oshie (again!) and the greatest card of Mario Lemieux ever made.

2 Hockey Heroes

Stan Mikita and Rogatien Vachon. I am pretty sure that Mikita did not don a helmet until the 1970s, even though the card is supposed to show him from the 1960s. Who is Upper Deck trying to fool here?

2 Jersey Cards

A Jean-Sebastien Giguere game-used memorabilia car.

A Ben Holmstrom event-used Rookie Materials card.

6 DUPLICATE Victory Update Cards

Ville Leino again! Brayden Shenn again! Maxime Talbot again! Kris Versteeg again! David Booth again! And Mike Richards again! I guess this is how you are rewarded for buying more than one box from the same dealer–duplicates of inserts.

6 DUPLICATE Victory Update Rookie Cards

Matt Read–yet again for my third Matt Read Victory Rookie card (and 5th Matt Read card in 3 boxes). I also got triples of Raphael Diaz, Craig Smith and Tim Erixon, and doubles of Brandon Saad and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

2 MVP Update Cards

Tomas Fleischmann and Alexander Burmistrov.

1 MVP Rookie Card

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers.

1 O-Pee-Chee Update Card

Evander Kane. Wish I got more than 1 of these per box, but at least there are only 10 “veterans” to collect.

2 O-Pee-Chee Update Rookie Cards

Adam Larsson and Gabriel Landeskog. Thankfully, neither are doubles. Six down and 9 to go.

1 O-Pee-Chee Retro Parallel

Louis Leblanc of the Montreal Canadiens.

Humongous Big amounts of doubles when it came to the Victory cards. Otherwise, good times. No duplicate Young Guns and a few more cards towards my OPC Update Set.

  1. That is a sweet mario card for sure!!! It took me two boxes from the LCS to complete the series II base set, so I hope you do end up getting the full base.

  2. I did not get any doubles of the victory update cards…wonder if you somehow got boxes from different cases??
