Bailey, team mascot of the Los Angeles Kings, is a cool cat. One minute, we were talking about hockey cards on Twitter. The next moment, he offered to send me some cards that I needed to help finish my set. This is the first time a team mascot has given me anything besides the creeps.

About a week later, a padded envelope from the L.A. Kings arrived in my mailbox with 24 cards inside. These are from the 1994-95 Classic “Women In Hockey” insert set.
I needed five of these cards: Hayley Wickenheiser, Karen Nystrom, Geraldine Heaney, Natalie Pickard and Cassie Campbell — the very card that drew my attention in Bailey’s tweet. Now, I’m only five cards away from finishing this set.
So I just want to give a big “thanks” to Bailey, who is hands-down the coolest mascot in the NHL.■
The few times we’ve run into he, he’s been a lot of fun. Good to see he’s got a lions heart too!
