2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 – Box Break #1

AWWWWWW, YEAH! Upper Deck Series Two was released earlier this week. I picked up 3 boxes. Here are the results of my first box break:

153 Base Cards

Series 2 is so full of parallels and inserts that you get about 12 less base cards in a box than you do in Series 1.

6 Young Guns

At least the number of Young Guns is consistently 6 per box. I got rookie cards of Robert Bortuzzo, Gabriel Bourque, Harry Zolnierczyk, Marcus Foligno, Zack Kassian and the Young Guns Checklist.

1 UD Exclusive

Shawn Thornton, numbered 75/100.

3 UD Canvas

What a great portrait of T.J. Oshie. I also pulled Canvas cards of Jeff Skinner and Derek Roy.

1 UD Canvas Young Guns

Calgary Flames goaltender Leland Irving.

3 Hockey Heroes

I got Hockey Heroes cards of Bobby Hull, Johnny Bower and this awesome painting card of Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita. Apparently, you get this card card 1 in every 600 packs. I was going to keep it anyway, but knowing that it’s extra-rare and of two Blackhawks legends makes it that much cooler.

2 Game Used Jersey Cards

A UD Game Jersey card of Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jack Johnson.

A Rookie Materials card of Montreal Canadiens center Louis Leblanc.

6 Victory Update Cards

Maxime Talbot, Kris Versteeg, Jeff Carter, David Booth, Brayden Schenn and Mike Richards.

6 Victory Update Rookie Cards

Raphael Diaz, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Craig Smith, Tim Erixon, Ryan Johanson and Matt Read.

2 MVP Update Cards

Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Ilya Bryzgalov.

1 MVP Update Rookie Card

Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche.

1 O-Pee-Chee Update Card

Seymon Varlamov. One down, 9 more of these non-rookie OPC update cards to go.

2 O-Pee-Chee Update Rookie Cards

Another RC of RNH! Awesome! I also got Mika Zibanejad.

1 O-Pee-Chee Retro Parallel

Sean Courtier. This is a parallel of his Marquee Rookie card.

So far, so good. I am going to pursue the O-Pee-Chee and Victory parallel sets, so I have a few more reasons besides Young Guns to buy several boxes. Stay tuned for my next break.

  1. Jeez Sal, you'd be hard pressed to find a better break than what you got. Two Nuges, a Kassian, AND a Landeskog? Well played, sir. Well, played.

  2. Two RNH in the same box??? That's preposterous. Plus, OPC in base UD release??? That's preposterous. You know what else is preposterous…the fact that I have none and you have three boxes. Maybe this weekend…no definitely this weekend.
