2010-11 Upper Deck Series 1 box break #2

This box maybe wasn’t as good as the first one, but I’m still happy with what I got.

Results for Box #2

170 Base Cards – Now, with only 200 base cards, you are bound to get many doubles if you buy two or three boxes. But what irritated me was how many doubles I got in the same box. I got 55 cards twice in this box (i.e. 2 John Tavares, 2 Jarkko Ruutu, etc.). Several packs had the exact same cards as each other.

I have always felt that if you get less cards than what it would take to complete a base set, then you should NOT get any doubles within that box.

6 Young Guns Rookie Cards – OK, these guys made up for my base card complaints. Sergei Bobrovsky, Andrew Bodnarchuk, Justin Falk, Alex Plante, Dustin Tokarski and Brayden Schenn.  Not one “over the top rookie,” but at least I’ve heard of most of these guys.

Insert Cards

6 20th Anniversary Parallels – How come when it is a parallel card set you DON’T WANT, Upper Deck seeds them one-per-pack (think shiny O-Pee-Chee Rainbow Parallels). But when it is a parallel card set you really want, you get one in every 4 packs? I don’t think anyone would complain if these were seeded one-per-pack.

The parallels I got were Jarret Stoll, Brandon Dubinsky, Rich Peverly, Kristian Huselius, Mark Giordano and Joe Pavelski.

2 Hockey Heroes – I got a double of HH1 (from my previous box) and HH3. I think I’d like these better if they used some variety in the pictures. Where is Yzerman from his Draft Day in 1983? Or celebrating an Olympic Gold Medal in 2002? Instead, we get run-of-the-mill, waist-up action shots.

2 All-World Team – At least one of these useless inserts was of a player I collect, Patrick Kane. The other one was of Joe Thornton.

The Hits

…or shall I say, misses?

UD Game Jersey Adam Hall – Why do I keep getting Adam Hall jersey cards? Why???? I got one of his jersey cards earlier this year, and another in 2008. If I had a dollar for every Adam Hall jersey card I got…no seriously, if someone would GIVE ME A DOLLAR for this damn card.

UD Game Jersey Tuomo Ruutu – Ruutu has fared better with the Hurricanes than he did with the Blackhawks. This card actually looks pretty good, as the black “third jersey” swatch contrasts nicely with the red circle surrounding it.

Overall, not bad. I got some decent rookies, a Patrick Kane insert card, and a jersey card (Ruutu) that I’ll probably be able to trade to someone out there. I’ll probably die and still have that Hal card, though.
