The results of my third–and probably final–box of 2011-12 Upper Deck Series One.
In the end, I ended up with one complete base set for my collection, a second near-complete base set that needs 24 cards and a bunch of doubles. It’s annoying that I’d get one card of, say, Jonas Hiller, but then five cards of Matt Stajan.
6 Young Guns
Craig Smith, Adam Larsson, Joe Vitale and Justin Faulk were all cards that I needed. Unfortunately, I got two duplicates–Greg Memisz and Matt Frattin.
3 UD Canvas Cards
Jussi Jokinen (double), Duncan Keith and Jarome Iginla (double). What’s up with all the doubles of the short-prints, Upper Deck? Two redundant Young Guns and two redundant Canvas cards. That sucks.
1 Canvas Young Guns
Well, this was unexpected. I’m too lazy/tired to type (or pronounce) this Hab’s name.
2 Hockey Heroes
Alex Delvecchio and Ted Lindsay.
2 All-World Team
Martin Brodeur and Alexander Ovechkin.
1 EA Ultimate Team
These would have been cool if they unlocked some sort of feature–or hidden player–in NHL ’12, instead of just being a blatant, UV-coated advertisement.
2 UD Game Jerseys
Drew Stafford and Steve Mason. The design of these jersey cards is actually nice.
You may have noticed…
1 UD Game Patch – Tomas Vokoun
This card was so thick that it took the place of 6 base cards. It uses a swatch of the shoulder patch from the Florida Panthers jersey.
A bit of cool numerology regarding this card: This cards is numbered 14 out of 15.
14 + 15 = 29
Vokoun wore 29 for the Panthers.
Conspiracy? You be the judge. And also, be a pal and help me complete this set. My Wantlist can be found here and my trade lists can be found here. Most of the inserts and all of the jersey cards are for trade too.
