Most of you know that I have articles published in last months'(208) and this months’ (209) issue of Beckett Hockey Magazine. This month, I also have a hockey-related article printed in Beckett Sports Collectors Monthly, issue 286. The article can be found in the magazine’s hockey section on pages 138 and 139. It is about the classic video game NHL ’94 and the NHL ’94 trading card set that was released “back in the day”. It also talks about how the game continues to thrive today, despite being 15 years old.
The magazine just came out at the tail-end of December, and can be found right now at newsstands and at your local card shop. Purchase (or borrow) an issue to check out my review/retrospective of this ground-breaking video game and cool hockey card set.
I must extend my thanks to Evan Eldredge, webmaster of the site NHL94.com, for taking the time to answer a few questions for me in regards to this game. His website is an online community that is the be-all, end all when it comes to NHL ’94.
I've heard that the Playstation 3 systems that are now in production have no backwards compatibility with the original Playstation and Playstation 2 games. I've also heard you can install software to add backwards compatibility, and then I've heard others refute that statement. What is the real deal here?
I wish I could answer your question, but I don't have a PS3. I'm looking to buy an XBOX 360, which I understand is backwards compatible with old XBOX games.
Sony added a second higher capacity slimline PlayStation 3 to its video game console lineup on November 3.
